Cadastral operations

The cadastre or to use a popular term registering a lot involves representing a property or lot on a plan and identifying it using a distinct lot number. The plan indicates the dimensions, the surface area, the shape and the location of the property relating to neighbouring properties.

The Quebec cadastre is a State register composed of several plans and documents prepared by land surveyors. This register is first used for making public land titles (publication of rights) and thus, protecting the rights. It it also used for property assessment and analysis for the establishment of property lines.

The Quebec Government is now proceeding to the registration of all public and private properties located on the territory of Quebec within the context of the reform program of the cadastre in Quebec. This program, spread over many years, assigns a unique and distinct lot number to all properties.
