The geodesy includes all the measurement and calculation operations subject to determine the shape of the earth, its dimensions and the exact position (latitude, longitude, altitude) of official markers (geodesic markers) implanted on its surface which is considered as a curve. A set of geodesic markers so determined constitutes a geodesic network.
The conventional measuring technique of angles and distances used to precisely establish the latitude, the longitude and the altitude of geodesic markers has been replaced, for over two decades, by the global positioning system (GPS).
The geodesic networks set by the land surveyors are essentials to the achievement of mapping works and the development of major construction projects. In regard to property rights, these networks are being an important support.
